Oprah Winfrey's Backyard Visit with Michael Jackson's Kids

Relaxed, smiling and playful – that's the image of Michael Jackson's three children captured in a candid photo taken during Oprah Winfrey's visit to the Jacksons' Encino, Calif., home last month.

Prince, 13, and Paris, 12, are seen smiling as Paris reaches out to Blanket, 8, who is curled up in a lawn chair in the backyard of the home, while Winfrey and the children's grandparents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, are seated across the table.

The talk-show host was there to interview Katherine about Michael's childhood, his career, his children and his legacy a year and a half after the pop legend's untimely death at age 50.

That interview is scheduled to air on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday, Nov. 8.

Jake Pavelka Steps Out with New Girlfriend
By Monica Rizzo

Former Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars contestant Jake Pavelka stepped out with his new girlfriend, Dallas-based wedding planner Meghan Jones on Monday night.

Pavelka tells PEOPLE he and Jones, who held hands and sat in the audience for Dancing's 200th episode extravaganza, met "a couple months ago and we just clicked." Meeting his new girlfriend away from cameras "is nice," he says. "It’s normal."

The Dallas pilot – who endured a nasty split with fiancée Vienna Girardi in June – has been keeping a low profile the past several months, focusing on "flying planes and training and competing in triathlons."

Pavelka, who had a guest-starring stint on Drop Dead Diva last August, says he's still pursuing acting and working on a new series. "I can't tell you anything more about it yet," he says, adding that "it's 18 episodes."

For now, he's focusing on his budding relationship. The couple's distance – Pavelka has homes in Los Angeles and Dallas – hasn't been a problem.

"I am from here. I have family in Orange County," Jones says, noting that the two will spend Thanksgiving together in California.

"My parents are coming out and my brother is still here," Pavelka says. He's also taking his special lady on a spontaneous adventure.

"I think tomorrow we may skip town. One of the greatest things about being a pilot is being able to jump on a plane to Australia spur of the moment," Pavelka says. "We may go there or Bangkok or Bali. We've been looking at the weather so that will help us decide."

Niecy Nash Hasn't Made Any Wedding Plans, Except One
By Michelle Ward

Newly engaged Niecy Nash knows exactly what she wants on her wedding day – and it has nothing to do with the dress, the location or the food.

"The only thing I know I really want is to marry that guy," Nash told PEOPLE, pointing to her electrical-engineer fiancé Jay Tucker, at CAAF's 17th Annual Dream Halloween Party on Saturday.

Actually, the Emmy-winning Style Network host, 40, does have another detail sorted out: She has picked her bridesmaids.

"I know the ladies that I want standing up there with me. One of my bridesmaids is coming down here [now]," she said, referring to Sherri Sheperd, who also attended the event in Santa Monica. Nash jokingly continued: "When you see Sherri Sheperd from The View, ask her if she's lost any weight for my wedding."

Beyond that, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant hasn't made any other wedding plans. "Falling in love was easy," she says. "Planning a wedding, not so much."

For now. the couple are just happy being engaged and enjoying time together. "You know, when I wake up in the morning, every time I see him – and I'm not kidding – every time I see him, I dance," Nash said, which Tucker later confirmed.

The groom-to-be also had compliments to dish about his future wife. "She's really warm and genuine and funny and beautiful and all those things," Tucker said. "I've gotten a preview of that dating her and being engaged to her, so I'm looking forward to that for about 45 years."

Bethenny Frankel and Vince Neil Will Compete on Skating with the Stars

By Monica Rizzo
What does The Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel have in common with rocker Vince Neil and former Olympic ski champ Jonny Moseley? They, along with three other celebrities, make up the cast of ABC's new reality competition, Skating with the Stars.

Announced during Tuesday's DWTS live results show, soap opera star Rebecca Budig, actress Sean Young and Disney Channel's Brandon Michael Smith round out the cast who will lace up their figure skates and compete on the show, which premieres Nov. 22.

"Most things I do are business decisions, but when I heard about this I thought, 'I just want to do this.' It's so awesome," Frankel says.

Even though he's a world-class athlete, Moseley says the first two weeks of training have taken their toll.

"I still work out pretty vigorously, but this is taxing," says Moseley, adding that he can "count the number of times I've skated on two hands."

But the icy adventure is not too far out of Neil's comfort zone.

"I was a figure skater when I was 12," the rocker says. "When they called the people in my office were laughing but I told them, 'I actually used to skate. I haven't skated for a long, long time. I like to do things that sound like fun and this sounds like fun."

Budig, too, has a bit of experience, having taken lessons for several years as a kid. But strapping on the skates as an adult is an entirely different sensation.

"I'm definitely feeling that fear factor," she says. "It's exhilarating but it's also scary. You have a lot more gumption as a kid."

Moseley, who has been rehabbing a broken ankle since June, admits he's using muscles he hasn't tapped in a long time.

"I feel tight but this is an experience I want to have," he says. "I want to be a good skater. I'm such a sucker for a competition."

Spoiler: Another Surprise Elimination from Dancing
By Dahvi Shira
Another week of Dancing with the Stars, another last-place ranking for Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas.

But in weeks passed, Palin has held on during elimination rounds, while watching a higher-scoring dancing duo pack their bags.

Did Palin, who scored a 57 on Monday, finally get the boot on Tuesday night's elimination episode? Or did viewers see other low-scored dancer Kyle Massey, who scored a 59, hang up his dancing shoes?

It's another surprise elimination: Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke, who scored higher than Palin and Ballas, are leaving the ballroom. This follows last week's shocking departure of Audrina Patridge.

Fox left with grace.

"It's been amazing. It's been a transformational journey for my relationship with my girlfriend and with my daughters," says the former Lakers star who is dating Eliza Dushku.

By Sara Hammel

The Elizabeth Smart kidnapping trial is now back on after a surprise appeals court ruling halted proceedings Thursday.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday morning released its decision to deny Brian David Mitchell's request to move his trial out of Utah, writing that a change of venue would be a "drastic remedy and is to be invoked only in extraordinary circumstances."

Catherine Bell Introduces Son Ronan

Catherine Bell‘s 11-week-old son Ronan is already working on a megawatt grin rivaling his mother’s.

“I tell him how handsome he is and he just smiles!” says the Army Wives star who delivered her baby boy via c-section on Aug. 21.

“He’s the sweetest little boy. He’s so easygoing and not fussy at all. He’s full of smiles.”

Bell — who is also mom to daughter Gemma, 7½, with her screenwriter husband Adam Beason — says motherhood the second time around is a breeze.

“I’m more relaxed and I’m enjoying the experience so much more,” she explains.

“When my daughter was born, if she started crying I’d jump out of my seat and go, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s crying, is she okay?’ With this guy, I’m not dropping everything and running into the bedroom. I’ll just finish what I do and go and pick him up.”

She also has the assistance of Gemma, who has turned into a “second mommy,” the actress notes.

“The first time she saw him in the hospital, it was the most beautiful thing,” Bell, 42, recalls. “Gemma came over and held him and started crying. It was so sweet. She loves to cuddle him and feed him.”

Bell, who gained 28 lbs. during her pregnancy, credits “breastfeeding, working out, eating well and having one treat, not two” with helping her lose the weight.

“It feels good to get back in shape,” she says. “I put the baby in a sling or baby carrier and go for long walks or walk on the treadmill. It’s a great bonding experience — he usually falls asleep on me and I get the extra 10 lbs. for my workout.”

The JAG alum — who lives in Charleston, S.C. with her family — is back at work, filming a Lifetime action movie in Detroit that her husband wrote. She can next be seen in The Good Witch’s Gift, premiering Nov. 13 on the Hallmark Channel, and returns to the set of Army Wives in December.

“Life is pretty wonderful,” she says. “I have a great family and a great job. I feel so blessed. I’m savoring every moment.”

Katy Perry: I'd Rather 'Tease' Than Pose Nude
By Dahvi Shira

Katy Perry isn't shy about showing some skin – just don't expect her to bare all.

"I like to play [the sexy] card because it's fun and definitely in my deck, but I like to tease," Perry says in the December issue of British Cosmopolitan. "I'm like a burlesque girl. I definitely won't be doing a Playboy spread, but I will be doing a kind of Dita Von Teese style."

Being married to Russell Brand is what, Perry says, makes her feel unconditionally sexy.

"I'm confident in my skin I guess, lately," she explains. "I think that when you're in a supportive relationship, you don't care anymore about outside. Things that may have irked you before don't matter because you found someone who loves you no matter what."

Adds Perry, "I guess it's a mixture of, 'Hey, I'm 26, and I know these are my prime years and I feel confident,' and being loved-up."

Jill Clayburgh Dies
By Stephen M. Silverman

Jill Clayburgh, who embodied hopeful and determined women in such '70s and '80s movies as An Unmarried Woman, Starting Over and It's My Turn, died at her Connecticut home on Friday from chronic leukemia, a disease she quietly battled for 21 years, her husband, playwright David Rabe, told The New York Times. She was 66.

Earlier this week, the couple's daughter, actress Lily Rabe, took a temporary leave of absence from the Broadway show in which she is about to open, Shakespeare's A Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino. A spokesperson for the show said only that it was a private family matter that caused Rabe to take leave.

Besides her movie roles, Clayburgh was also highly visible on TV, on Law & Order, The Practice and Nip/Tuck, as well as an ongoing role as mother Jeannie on Ally McBeal.

Nominated for an Oscar for 1978's An Unmarried Woman, which was arguably her best screen role, Clayburgh played a vulnerable-but-courageous abandoned wife on Manhattan's Upper East Side who finds her independence when she has an affair with a sexy artist (Alan Bates), with her character learning by the fade-out that being on her own is just fine.

The only daughter of a wealthy book-cloth manufacturer and an actress turned assistant to legendary theatrical producer David Merrick, Clayburgh grew up a poor-little-rich-girl on Manhattan's East Side. Her grandmother, Alma Clayburgh, was a prominent socialite and opera singer.

"I was very assertive as a child, verging on violence and self-destructiveness. Once I threw this short little boy down the stairs," Clayburgh told PEOPLE in 1979. "It was a kind of need for power at a young age that masks insecurity."

First Theater, Then TV and Movies
She got hooked on theater when a Sarah Lawrence College classmate talked her into summer stock one vacation. Then came a student film with other future lights: Brian De Palma as director and Robert De Niro as costar.

After her 1966 graduation, Clayburgh headed for Boston, where she joined the Charles Playhouse and met and began a five-year relationship with Al Pacino, who was appearing in the company's production of America Hurrah. Their struggles were cushioned slightly by Clayburgh's $200-a-month trust fund, and they soon made the move to a mice-infested walk-up in New York.

She was cast as Grace Bolton on the CBS soap Search for Tomorrow, but she mainly toiled Off-Broadway for $56 a week as Pacino's movie career began to take off. "Thank God we broke up!" Clayburgh later said, though she and Pacino remained friends. "We were all wrong for each other."

It was an unsuccessful audition for Rabe's 1973 In the Boom Boom Room that changed her luck. When the part went to Madeline Kahn, Clayburgh headed for L.A., and just when she was ready to chuck it all for graduate study in social work, she won an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of a hooker in the 1975 TV dramatization of Gail Sheehy's Hustling, followed by the 1977 big-screen sleeper hit Silver Streak with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

She and Rabe married in 1978. When asked why, Clayburgh told PEOPLE: "So people would stop asking me about my personal life. If you're married, they just assume you're happy."

Besides David and Lily Rabe, Clayburgh is also survived by a son, Michael; a stepson, Jason; and a brother, James.

Jill Clayburgh's Daughter, Lily Rabe, Cancels Broadway Performances
By Rennie Dyball

The show must go on … but without one of its stars for now.

Lily Rabe, the daughter of late actress Jill Clayburgh who passed away Friday, has canceled several performances of her Broadway show A Merchant of Venice to mourn the loss of her mother.

The show's opening day will be postponed, and Rabe's understudy will take over her role until she returns. When she does, she'll have a castmate to lean on who knew her mother well: Al Pacino.

The legendary actor had a five-year relationship with Rabe's mother, and the two remained friends after that. "Thank God we broke up!" Clayburgh once joked. "We were all wrong for each other."

Shakespeare's A Merchant of Venice was first presented this summer at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park before it made the move to Broadway. The New York Times reports that a new opening date will be confirmed next week.

Kendra Wilkinson & Hank Baskett Juggle Baby and Bedroom with 'Quickies'
By Dahvi Shira

Kendra Wilkinson is one busy lady.

Occupied with mommyhood, writing novels, making T.V. appearances and filming her own show, Wilkinson doesn't have a lot of time on her hands. But one thing she always makes a point to fit into her agenda? Getting hot and heavy with her hubby Hank Baskett (when he's in town, that is).

"One word: quickies," Wilkinson recently told PEOPLE when asked how she sneaks one-on-one time with Baskett into her busy schedule. "I'm all about those quickes. Sometimes it’s good to have some foreplay and all that, but quickies – I'm all about those."

Adds Wilkinson, 25, with her signature laugh, "It's good to be spontaneous."

But the E! reality starlet says there's much more to her love for Baskett, 28, than sexual chemistry. "Hank's not ashamed to be a man," Wilkinson says. "Men out there nowadays, they're ashamed. They're ashamed to cry, they're ashamed to do some dishes, they're ashamed to cook."

Apparently Wilkinson isn't the only one who has taken notice to Baskett's "manly" ways. "Hank took the baby out in a stroller one day in Philadelphia," Wilkinson says. "As he was strolling him, people came up to him and said, 'Wow, you're a real man.'"

Continuing to gush, Wilkinson says, "There are guys out there that will do that, but it's rare to see that. Hank's not ashamed. He's a real man. He's a guy who will wear pink and not be ashamed of it. He's not ashamed to do anything."
