Mel Gibson's girlfriend gives birth

Mel Gibson may be a father for the eighth time: His girlfriend, musican Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a baby girl, according to reports circulating on the Web.

PEOPLE is currently attempting to confirm the news. The baby, who was due in December, arrived Friday, says RadarOnline.com.

Gibson, 53, has seven children (six sons and a daughter) with his estranged wife Robyn, while Oksana has a son, Alexander, with her former boyfriend, actor Timothy Dalton.

'I have a 12 year old, so I've been a mother for 12 years - and of course, there is no first time mother's trepidation as such,' Grigorieva, 39, said on a British TV show in September. 'So naturally it's more relaxed, and I'm very dynamic so the pregnancy falls into my work schedule.'

In terms of her relationship with the actor-filmmaker, she said, 'Actually we have no plans to marry whatsoever. I haven't thought about it - we haven't spoken about it.'

In April, the actor's wife of 30 years, Robyn, filed for divorce. Later that month, he and Grigeorieva made their first public appearance together as a couple.

John Travolta and family healing through religious counseling

Speaking publicly for the first time since their 16-year-old son, Jett, died on Jan. 2 after hitting his head on a bathtub during a seizure, John Travolta says that coping with the devastating loss is a daily struggle.

‘We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal,' Travolta said in an interview with USA Today.

Among his and wife Kelly Preston's coping tools are daily religious counseling sessions. Travolta, 55, a Scientologist, says he broke his silence to focus on his daughter, Ella Bleu. Ella, 9, costars with her parents in her feature-film debut, the comedy Old Dogs, which opens Nov. 25.

‘We decided it was okay to come out and promote, to introduce her to the world and to give her a beautiful future in film,' Travolta said.

Friends, Family Faith

Preston, 47, said that the grieving process is always evolving.

‘It's a tricky thing,' she noted. ‘Sometimes, something that's right for the moment is not right the next day. Being with people who are important to you, being with people that you love, I think that's what has primarily helped us the most. Sometimes, being alone, too.'

‘The outpouring of love from, really, worldwide has been extraordinary,' she told the newspaper. ‘It's been our friends, our family, our church. We partake in spiritual counseling pretty much daily.'

Above all, Travolta senses some progress as the family moves forward.

‘We have our own way of doing it,' he said, ‘and it has been helping.'

A friend of the actor tells PEOPLE, ‘What's gotten them through? Their counseling, their love for each other, the love they've gotten from their friends ... but have they healed? No. You never get over it.'

Brooke Shields recalls suicidal thoughts after giving birth

Brooke Shields has been open about her struggles with post-partum depression, but in revealing new comments she expresses the true depths of her suffering.

Shields, 44, spoke movingly about the stigma of depression and her experience battling the disease on Monday while receiving an advocacy award from the Hope for Depression Research Foundation in Manhattan.

'We think and we feel that we should just be able to handle it on our own,' said the actress, who is mom to two girls, Rowan, 6, and Grier, 3.

'I've always been strong enough to get through every single difficult situation in my life. I grew up in an addictive household. My mother [Teri] had acute alcoholism. It's in my blood. I was never going to be the one to succumb to it.'

After a miscarriage and seven IVF attempts, she gave birth to daughter Rowan in 2003 with her husband, TV writer Chris Henchy.

'I finally had a healthy beautiful baby girl and I couldn't look at her,' she said of the depression she felt.

'I couldn't hold her and I couldn't sing to her and I couldn't smile at her ... All I wanted to do was disappear and die.'

In her deepest moments of despair she said, that the disease led her to believe, 'I should not exist. The baby would be better off without me. Life was never going to get better - so I better just go.'

Shields was prescribed medication, though she stopping taking it one point, thinking she didn't need them.

'That was the week I almost did not resist driving my car straight into a wall on the side of the freeway,' she told the crowd.

'My baby was in the back seat and that even pissed me off because I thought she's even ruining this for me.

'I just wanted to drive into the wall and my friend stayed on the phone with me and made me safely get home.'

She later called her doctor to ask for more help, and was eventually diagnosed with a chemical imbalance.

'I learned what was going on inside my body and what was going on inside my brain,' she said.

'I learned I wasn't doing anything wrong to feel that way. That it was actually out of my control.'

Looking back, she said, 'If I had been diagnosed with any other disease, I would have run to get help. I would have worn it like a badge ... I didn't at first - but finally I did fight. I survived.'
